This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) outlines the rules and restrictions for using the hosting services, products, and infrastructure provided by EgoHoster LLC (“EgoHoster”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
This AUP is incorporated into our Terms of Service and applies to all customers and users.
By using our services, you agree to comply with this Policy.
1. Purpose of This Policy
This AUP ensures:
- The security of our network and servers
- A fair environment for all clients
- Compliance with US and international law
- Protection from abuse and illegal activity
Any violation may result in account suspension, termination, or legal action without refund.
2. Prohibited Content
Customers may not host, upload, or distribute the following on any EgoHoster service:
2.1 Illegal Content
- Child exploitation material
- Human trafficking content
- Illegal drugs, weapons, or contraband
- Content violating criminal laws in the USA or EU
2.2 Copyright-Infringing Material
- Pirated movies, games, or software
- Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted works
- Torrents containing copyrighted content
2.3 Hate or Abuse
- Violent or extremist content
- Hate speech
- Harassment, threats, or abusive behavior
2.4 Fraudulent or Deceptive Content
- Fake websites, scams, phishing
- Impersonation, identity theft
- Fake government or banking pages
2.5 Adult Content Restrictions
Legal adult content is allowed only if it complies with:
- US federal law
- EU content restrictions
- Local legislation of the user’s region
3. Prohibited Technical Activities
3.1 Malware & Cyber Attacks
You may not use EgoHoster servers to:
- Spread viruses, trojans, ransomware
- Run botnets
- Perform DDoS attacks
- Hack, exploit, or scan systems without consent
3.2 Spamming
Strictly prohibited:
- Mass unsolicited emails
- Purchased email lists
- Sending promotional content without permission
- Using the server IPs for bulk mailing
Violations may lead to account termination and IP blacklisting fees.
3.3 Resource Abuse
You may not:
- Use excessive CPU, RAM, or disk resources
- Run cryptocurrency mining
- Host proxy/VPN networks without approval
- Store large backups unrelated to your website
- Run sustained background processes on shared hosting
If your usage negatively impacts others, we may throttle or suspend your service.
4. Network and Performance Restrictions
On shared hosting plans:
- Fair usage limits apply
- Intensive scripts, bots, automation, or cron jobs may be restricted
- Public file repositories are not allowed
For VPS and dedicated servers, restrictions still apply if affecting network health.
5. Email Usage Rules
Prohibited:
- Sending mass newsletters without permission
- SMTP abuse
- Email bombing
- Spoofing or forging headers
- Hosting mailing services for illegal purposes
Outgoing email may be rate-limited for security reasons.
6. Security Requirements
You must:
- Maintain secure passwords
- Update scripts, CMS, and plugins (WordPress, etc.)
- Remove malware immediately when notified
- Not share login information with unauthorized persons
Failure to fix vulnerabilities may result in suspension to protect the network.
7. Backups and Data Responsibility
EgoHoster may provide backup tools, but:
- Backups are not guaranteed
- You are fully responsible for your own data
- EgoHoster is not liable for data loss
8. Enforcement and Actions
If AUP is violated, EgoHoster may:
- Issue a warning
- Suspend service
- Terminate service immediately (no refund)
- Report illegal activity to authorities
- Block access or limit resources
- Charge abuse-handling fees (e.g., spam cleanup, DDOS mitigation)
Serious violations result in instant termination.
